This pitch was for a documentary limited series I had actually put together myself. FBI legend, Phil Torseny, is a family friend who was kind enough to share a number of his stories with me and to introduce me to some of his former colleagues as well. We were tempted to focus on the story of how they caught notorious mobster, James “Whitey” Bulger, but were a little concerned the territory had been a bit too well worn, so we decided to use that as an in to focus on another unbelievable story that was much less known. It’s a decision I sometimes still question, and it’s sometimes difficult to always know every detail about the entertainment marketplace at any given time, but one thing I’ve learned is that what’s most important is to just actually make a decision and move forward with it. Either way, I still maintain that it’s an amazing story that deserves to be told. I’ve probably not ever played more roles on a single project than on this presentation, having done just about everything from conducting the interviews to creating the animations, but it was a passion project that Invent TV had agreed to partner with me on and I wanted to give it my all. I could write pages about this project, but I hope that in the end the work speaks for itself.
