"The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City" Pilot Presentation

The “dirty” pilot presentation for Bravo that became the wildly popular “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.”

Roles: Development Producer, Lead Video Editor

Client: Bravo

I was brought in on this project late in the process by the developer. The team was having a hard time getting it to all come together in the edit, and I had performed magic for her previously on the pitch presentation she used to sell “Southern Charm: New Orleans” to Bravo, so she asked me to do it again for a show they were calling “Salt Lake Society” at the time. They had fingers crossed that it might be good enough that Bravo would not only pick it up but also give it the coveted “Real Housewives” designation. One look at the cast they had assembled and I had no doubt.

I took the Lead Editor/ Producer position with 2 other editors and the casting team to support me, and dug in with a super-tight deadline hanging over our heads. Luckily, the cast was pure gold, (props to Casting Producer, Joey Gemelli,) so there was plenty to work with. One of the biggest challenges was deciding what to leave on the cutting room floor. Pacing, character development, story structure, comedic timing, and tension would all be key as well. In the end, we delivered what I consider a very solid pitch, completely on brand for Bravo, and the rest is history.
